Process Step

Based on the overlay of 4 raster layers: annual precipitation, annual potential evapotranspiration, mean temperature of the coldest and mean temperature of the warmest month. The classes follow the UNESCO system used in their map of the arid regions of the world (see cross-reference), extended by introducing the 'per-humid' class (aridity index >1). For more details is referred to the citation (De Pauw, 2008).
