This map differentiates the kinds of major soil constraints that constitute ‘problem soils’ and contribute to soil resource poverty . Fifty four classes were differentiated on the basis of the occurrence of one or another of the 9 basic problem soils, either single or in combination with others.

This map differentiates the kinds of major soil constraints that constitute ‘problem soils’ and contribute to soil resource poverty . Fifty four classes were differentiated on the basis of the occurrence of one or another of the 9 basic problem soils, either single or in combination with others.
In order to be included in this map as a major soil constraint, a problem soil had to occupy at least 20% of a pixel.
